I have no upper body strength; will that be a problem?
No problem at all! Our job is to get you pole strong from the beginning. We will teach you everything you need to know on how to become stronger in your upper body, core, and all over body!
What should I wear?
You should wear short shorts and a tank top, but please feel free to wear long pants and shirt on top. Sports bras are recommended for protection and support. For your safety, you need to have a lot of skin exposed as you need to stick to the pole. Fabric will slide right off the pole, giving you no grip. You may also bring knee pads to protect your knees from excess bruising (mostly for dance classes). Undergarments are not appropriate attire and you will not be allowed to participate if wearing only undergarments. We do have a changing area for your privacy to change at studio before class.
What if I show up late? Can I still join the class?
It is best to show up at least 5-10 min ahead of class, so you have time to change and be ready to start class on time. If you are more than 10-15 min late, we reserve the right to not allow you into the class for injury prevention. It is vital to take part in the warm up of each class so you do not strain or injure your body.
Do I need any dance background?
No, you don’t. No athleticism, dance background, or flexibility is necessary to join the fun. All you need is a positive attitude and an open mind. If you've been searching for a workout that you'll actually look forward to, then Papillon Pole Fitness has it. You will learn everything you need to know at our classes. Start in the beginner classes on the schedule, and slowly work your way up when you feel ready to.
Should I bring high heels to pole classes?
Heels are not required. Especially in the beginner and intermediate classes, as you will be barefoot at all times while learning pole. You will work your way up to adding the weight of the heels to your workout. But again, this is completely optional. Street shoes are not allowed; you will be allowed to wear only heels that have a proper rubber bottom (stripper heels), as they are safer and appropriate for this workout. Regular high heels are not allowed.
Can I drop in to any class or do I have to make an appointment?
You must sign up online for classes you want to attend. This ensures your spot in class.
Is there an age limit to attend a class?
Yes. You must be 18 years of age or older to participate in any class.
What are your cancellation policies?
We require a minimum of two hours notice to cancel group class, a minimum of six hours notice to cancel a private class, and a minimum of twenty-four hours notice to cancel private parties with no penalties. Cancellations with less than the required notice will be charged.
You must enroll at least two hours prior to the start of a group class. If no one is signed up for a group class two hours prior to start, the class will be canceled.
What else should I know?
You should NOT wear any lotions or oils on your body the day of class. Sweating will release the lotion back to the surface, and you will be sliding off the pole. Also, keep all jewelry at home, as it will get caught on your clothing and scrape the poles, which could make the grip a bit rough.
Please note: Drop-ins are welcome, but reservations are recommended, as space is not guaranteed. All classes are co-ed.
